MONTREAL POETS ENDRE FARKAS & CAROLYN MARIE SOUAID READ OCTOBER 2, 2009!

LEAGUE OF CANADIAN POETS READING

ENDRE FARKAS, born in Hungary, escaped with his parents during the 1956 Hungarian uprising and settled in Montreal. He has 9 books of poetry, his latest, quotidian fever; new and selelcted poems from The Muses Company. He has also published plays and is exploring collaborative performance with poet Carolyn Marie Souaid.

CAROLYN MARIE SOUAID is a Montreal based poet with 6 titles to her credit. She is an editor, book reviewer and produced Circus of Words, a multilingual cabaret celebrating the theatre of poetry. Her most recent collection is Paper Oranges from Signature Editions.

PLANET EARTH POETRY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2009

KAREN SHKLANKA AND MALEEA ACKER LAUNCH THEIR FIRST BOOKS OF POETRY AT PLANET EARTH POETRY SEPTEMBER 25, 2009

Karen Shlanka is a poet, a family physician and, with her husband, an Argentine Tango dance instructor. She is currently a Clinical Instructor in the Faculty of Family Medicine at UBC. Her first book of poetry, Sumac's Red Arms. is published by Coteau Books.

Maleea Acker's work has been translated into Spanish and has appeared in many anthologies and journals. She has an MFA from the University of Victoria, writes for a variety of cultural, political and environmental organizations and teaches writing at Camosun College. Her first book of poetry, The Reflecting Pool, is published by Pedlar Press.

PLANET EARTH POETRY BEGINS ITS 15th SEASON !!!

PLANET EARTH POETRY BEGINS ITS 15th SEASON, 7:30 PM, Friday September 18, 2009, at the Black Stilt, 1633 Hillside, with Favourite Poem Night. Bring your favourite poem by another poet and read at the open mic. It is always enthralling.

This is a fundraiser for Doctors without Borders
