Planet Earth Poetry begins its 2009 season at the Black Stilt

JANUARY 16, 2009: SHANE KOYCZAN

Winner of the US Slam Poetry Championship and Canadian Spoken Work Olympics, Shane Koyczan's performances--thrilling, rich fast and cool, have brought audiences to their feet in New York, London, Edinburgh, Sydney, Auckland and Los Angeles. He now brings this great talent to Victoria.
He has two book of poetry from House of Parlance, Visiting Hours and Stick Boy.

JANUARY 23, 2009: LORNA CROZIER

Over a career spanning three decades, Lorna Crozier has become one of Canada's most beloved poets, receiving the Governor General's Award, the Pat Lawther Poetry Award and many others. She has published fourteen books of poetry, her latest, The Blue Hour of the Day, from McClelland & Stewart draws on her eight major collections. She has been awarded the Distinguished Professor Award, from the University of Victoria, where she has been chair of the Creative Writing department.


JANUARY 30, 2009: MATT RADER, PETER LEVITT & SHIRLEY GRAHAM

MATT RADER studied writing at the University of Victoria. He is the editor of Mosquito Press, and a Graduate Teaching Fellow at the University of Oregon. His second book, from Nightwood Editions, Living Things, was written in the year after the birth of his daughter.

PETER LEVITT has 9 books of poetry, is a translator, teacher in the UBC Creative Writing Optional Residency MFA Program. His latest book is Within, Within, from Black Moss Press.

SHIRLEY GRAHAM lives on Salt Spring Island with her husband, Peter Levitt. Her latest book, What Someone Wanted, was published by Black Moss Press.
