KAREN SHKLANKA AND MALEEA ACKER LAUNCH THEIR FIRST BOOKS OF POETRY AT PLANET EARTH POETRY SEPTEMBER 25, 2009
Karen Shlanka is a poet, a family physician and, with her husband, an Argentine Tango dance instructor. She is currently a Clinical Instructor in the Faculty of Family Medicine at UBC. Her first book of poetry, Sumac's Red Arms. is published by Coteau Books.
Maleea Acker's work has been translated into Spanish and has appeared in many anthologies and journals. She has an MFA from the University of Victoria, writes for a variety of cultural, political and environmental organizations and teaches writing at Camosun College. Her first book of poetry, The Reflecting Pool, is published by Pedlar Press.
