September 10 Open Mike/ Doctors Without Borders Fundraiser


Thanks to The Times Colonist and CBC Radio 1 we have books for sale by donation to Doctors Without Borders at our season’s All Open Mike opening night. Bring a poem by a favourite poet, other than yourself! This will kick off a fantastic 2010/11 Season.

September 17 2010 Carla Funk


Carla Funk, the City of Victoria’s inaugural poet laureate from 2006-2008, launches her fourth collection of poetry Apologetic (Turnstone Press).



September 24 Leanne Boschman and Russell Thorburn


Leanne Boschman’s first collection of poems Precipitous Signs: A Rain Journal was published in 2009 by Leaf Press and is on the ReLit Awards poetry long-list. She is a prairie transplant and a part of the Planet Earth Poetry community in Victoria.


Russell Thorburn is the author of four books of poems: Approximate Desire, Father, Tell Me I Have Not Aged, The Drunken Piano, and The Whole Tree as Told to the Backyard. He teaches poetry at Northern Michigan University.
