Planet Earth Poetry at the Black Stilt begins again!

SEPTEMBER 14, 2007: FAVOURITE POEM NIGHT with local notables and poetry fans reading their favourite poem by another poet.

This is a fundraiser for African AID Angels, which is a volunteer group across Canada that makes small angels which have been given names in memory of children who have died from AIDS. The money collected goes directly to orphanages in South Africa and Zambia.

Gifts for everyone on our opening night.

SEPTEMBER 21, 2007: PATRICK LANE
, considered the greatest poet of his generation, is the winner of every poetry prize Canada offers. As well he has won the B.C. Book Prize for his memoir, There is a Season.

He will be reading from his lastest book of poetry, Last Water Song, from Harbour Publishing.


SEPTEMBER 28, 2007: BRENDAN McLEOD and WILLA SCHNEBERG


BRENDAN McLEOD, is one of Canada's best spoken word performers, the winner of many prizes. He is also the winner of Arsenal Pulp's 3 day Novel Contest, the result of which is the publication of The Convictions of Leonard McKinley.

On September 29, he will be offering a half day perfomance workshop. 1-5 pm. $50. Contact Yvonne Blomer at yblomer@shaw.ca


WILLA SCHENBERG spent a year in Cambodia as a U.N. volunteer. The result was her book of poetry from Calyx Books, Storytelling in Cambodia, a cycle of linked poems from her experience there.
